Another Year Above Ground
Yeah, it’s my birthday. Turning 42 today. Yeehaw. Another year on the right side of the grass, I guess. Truth is, the last year has been a tough one – my health was crap, and I had to change jobs, and my finances took a dive.
But, glass being half-full now, things are slowly improving. I’ve got a BETTER paying job in the past few months, my health is steadily improving through my lifestyle transformation journey, and we’re clawing our way out of debt.
Can’t really celebrate the birthday the way I’d like - I have to check in to hospital at 8 pm for the night. I’m doing the sleep study test. I’ll do my best to sleep with staff monitoring how much I snore, and how often sleep apnea has me stop breathing. Unless I lose a pantload of weight quickly, looks like I’ll be sleeping with a CPAP machine in the next month or so.
Fuel is lean and clean today – including a planned stop for a sushi lunch for my birthday later at noon. Taking one more day of rest from the gym. Feeling better after taking last evening off and getting to bed early.
Onwards and upwards!

Happy Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday! Hope you ace the sleep test.
Your half-full view of your last years seems like a good way to go!
Aw, Happy Birthday! Hope the sleep test goes well. And fwiw, the cpap isn’t that bad. My ex uses one, and it made a world of difference in how he feels.
Happy Birthday!
My (very slim) other half has sleep apnoea and the consultant has no idea why… Hope your sleep test goes well and you get to celebrate at the weekend instead.
Happy Birthday, Rick! You really are an inspiration and your never-say-die, get-back-on-the-horse attitude helps keep me focused on always keeping at it.
Aww, happy birthday man! I hope your day is wonderful. Too bad you have to go in for the sleep study tonight, but I’m hoping you get the results you want.
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday!!
Good luck with your sleep test tonight. Just so you know… you don’t get to sleep that well. They come in and make you move around and such all night long.
