About Rick

In all likelyhood, I’m just your average 42 year old guy.  I’m very happily married to a wonderful gal and have two awesome teens.  I’ve got a good career (although I’m on a medical leave right now) and enjoy a warm, inviting home.  Friends say I’m a joker, always wanting to use by dry, sarcastic wit.

But what I see, when I look inward, is an obese unhappy dude who is deeply lost in his poor health.  Ever since university, I’ve been on the heavy side of the scales, moreso in the past 10 years.

With the obesity comes a steadily increase in a bunch of health problems.  Here’s what I have recently been diagnosed with:

  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • Depression & anxiety
  • Cardiac arrythmia
  • Recurrent kidney issues

I’m on different medications for all of the above, taking 14 pills daily.

What I plan to do, over the next year or so, is transform my health.  I plan to eat 5-6 small meals daily (good carbs, protein and some healthy fats) and hit the gym 5-6 times weekly. Through this I aim to lose 150 lbs.  Lofty goal, but I think you’ll agree that I need to do it.  Doctor’s orders, to be honest.

So I ask you this…  Please take some time to bookmark and visit this blog on a regular basis. Read my updates and please fill out a comment, suggestion, or give a little praise.  It’ll be your support that helps me make it through this journey.

Thanks, Rick
